"To assist vets back to a good life."

Ronnie Roper

My name is Ronnie, I arrived in Vietnam as a 19 year old PFC, fresh out of AIT at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. After a week of jungle training, I was assigned to the 1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, stationed in Lai Khe. During the year I was there, we did a lot of mine sweeps, landing zone clearance, bridge and airstrip repairs, and land clearing for fire support bases.

I spent the majority of my time working out of fire support bases. I did a lot of engineering type work such as fixing drainage problems, reinforcing TOC bunkers as well as running communication lines. We were tunnel rats when required, security. I was there from June/69 until June/70. I am proud to serve, and glad I was one of the lucky ones to return.
